Programa de Mestrado Profissional em Práticas Institucionais em Saúde Mental

The Program

The Professional Master's Program in Institutional Practices in Mental Health aims to train professionals capable of understanding and intervening in the institutional determinants of mental health, from an integrative perspective between subjects, practices and contexts. Based on a biopsychosocial approach, the program investigates how institutions - understood in their broadest sense, as systems of norms, values, knowledge and ways of functioning - impact the processes of illness and care throughout the life cycle. Through academic and technical-scientific activities aimed at the critical analysis and improvement of institutional practices, the master's program seeks to contribute to the qualification of actions in public policy, education, health and social assistance, with an emphasis on promoting mental health and transforming conditions of psychosocial vulnerability. The programme is organized into two lines of research, which focus on the different stages of human development: childhood and adolescence, and adulthood.

Target audience

Professionals with higher education degrees in various areas - such as psychology, health, education, social work, justice, public management or other related areas - who work or are interested in working in institutions focused on mental health promotion, prevention and care. The program welcomes different academic backgrounds, understanding that mental health care requires an interdisciplinary approach. Thus, the projects developed in the course are based on the student's original training, valuing their experience and their field of professional activity.
